Yin Yoga is a well balanced practice where poses are held for a minimum of 2 minutes. It's target is to deeply absorb within the joints, the ligaments and the connective tissues, also called Fascia.
Yang style yoga like Vinyasa & Ashtanga, mainly focuses on the superficial tissues of the muscles.
Some call Yin the acupuncture of the Yoga.
Yin activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which is beneficial for several reasons:
stress, tension, blood pressure, sleep, digestion, immune function, hormones and so forth.
Most of us spend our days locked in sympathetic nervous system overdrive, constantly being pulled from one
overly important deadline to another. We barely give ourselves the rest & balance we need.
Some levels of stress are essential to our health. In our Yin Yoga practice, you will find that we will be creating stress in our connective tissues making it much stronger than before. Not only stronger… moving the tissues of the body, we free up particles of contamination in our body which are than swept away into the lymphatic system and eliminated. The body then becomes rejuvenated.
